Focusproject

The ETH Zurich provides mechanical engineering students with the possibility of engineering, designing and manufacturing a self intended project.

The self reliant work enhances the students in their third year of studies to structure and organize a project themselves, which lasts for the time duration of one year. The students start working with only a rough idea and a lot of motivation. They learn a lot about working in a multifaceted team and are challenged to combine various academic disciplines, such as aerodynamics, mechanics, electronics and product innovation. During the time of the project the engineering students design the machine, construct a functioning prototype and test its reliability.

bend it

The aim of the project bend it is the construction of a machine, which is able to shoot soccer balls repeatably on a desired trajectory. To get this, a certain velocity and spin are given to the ball. As the trajectory should be definable in advance, a simulation is implemented with which the values needed for the machine are obtained.
